'Hold Peace in Your Heart, Violence in Your Hands, a Plan of Action in Your Mind."~Buddha. Actually the quote is ours and the shirt is cool!
The Warrior Monk. The design was inspired by Herman Hesse's novel Siddhartha. In Hesse's story the protagonist feels disconnected from society and he is in search of meaning. This design has nothing to do with Buddhism. The symbol of a peaceful character (Buddha) was specifically chosen to contrast with our view that we must stand up for ourselves against evil, even using weapons if there are no other options. There shouldn't be an internal conflict nor a social disconnection. Our gunfighter knows what he needs to do and he gets it done. Life has purpose, he has a mission and he is going to fight. He must not live life passively.
Our view is that men and women must live vitally and our sentiment can be summed up here: "Where is the locus of your pain? We can all joke about an injury by asking what is the "boo boo" and to show where it hurts. We'll even get a few laughs but the reality is we are susceptible to pain and deep pain simply cannot be ignored. Most men in our modern world who feel disconnected from the common culture and experience feelings of meaninglessness and futility should understand we are milliseconds away from reducing our suffering simply by attacking doubt with action.
Men fearful of pain, deep seated pain, will never get to the root of the problem unless they examine the wound. We must attack any of our misgivings with deliberate honesty to prevent the corrosive power of skepticism from rotting us within. Deliberate action married with focused intelligence means we discover why we are dying inside and it requires cutting out our dishonesty. Examination begets facts, facts require action, action requires order, order creates conviction, conviction breeds passion, passion brings connection. Do the damn work doctor.
We must examine how we see ourselves, how we see the world, and how we see others. Is life meaningless? Are we worthless? The truth is men are given a tremendous amount of power in that we are not only able to think but we are able to make choices yet most men squirm like worms rather than act like lions once given the facts. The location of your pain isn't over there, it's inside of you, and you can change how you think and feel. We were built for great things. You were built to do great things now do it. Don't be afraid of the work you must do. Have confidence in who you are, what you want to do, and what you want to say. Life holds a certain amount of misery and suffering but it also holds joy. Take action. Do not be a coward."
The other part of this is to stand by your philosophy. If its peace than hold to peace. If you must fight, then fight.
"Keep preaching peace, do nothing, or do little when violence comes to others but consider one day that violence may come to you, so be grateful if help comes from someone that won’t auction their talents nor principles as you did. When it happens is NOT the time to figure what it is that you believe. Give regard to a moral code that has real principle, merit and is useful because there are evil men out there. Give violence that is an appropriate response, that fully adheres to your principles, and if need be destroys bad men in their tracks."
Stay hopeful, stay strong, stay cool and be bad ass.
Spotter Up Tactical provides credible and applicable information in support of individuals becoming the best Chessmen they can be. A Chessman is an expert strategist, who trains rigorously, and can take action(s) to bypass threats. Becoming tactically sound in anything worthwhile requires sacrifice, discipline and a long-term plan.
Spotter Up believes in finding solutions to problems. ‘Find a Way or Make One’. Excuses are never made.
About the Logo
A spotter is trained to look for things. In our Spotter Up logo, our Spotter is the omniscient strategist who looks at problems through a lens of opportunity. He sits atop his tower and holds command over the 360 degrees around him, as represented by the eight arrows, (six in view) in our black and white circular logo. From his line of sight, he can see around, above, below and beyond a problem. He isn’t stuck using the same movements, as a rook chess piece would do, because he breaks the rules when the rules plainly don’t make sense. He capably navigates himself around threats, and can go anywhere.
A Spotter is the known as the consummate Chessman. He identifies issues, gathers information on the threats, devises a plan, and executes it successfully. In heraldry, the skull represents victory of life over death, and our spotter tower is a fortress that is a testament to his ability. Sometimes success is achieved by looking inside rather than beyond, and it is gained by listening to what you ‘know’. He is the sentinel that watches over others, himself, and learns in order that he can point the way out of danger.
AUT INVENIUM VIAM AUT FACIAM-I will either find a way or I will make one.
Legend has it that the military commander Hannibal said this to his generals after they told him it was impossible to cross the Alps on elephants.

Spotterup promotes the idea of the classical "whole" man found in ancient texts. For our modern day he is the GUNFIGHTER, WRITER, WILDMAN, MONK: Man of Action, Man of Intellect, Man of Emotion, Man of Spirit. This shirt is part of our MONK series. Expect to see many more designs under this archetype.
Consider the Athenian ideal of a balanced education. From the book Greek Realities: Life and Thought in Ancient Greece, By Finley Hooper "They could play some flute but should not neglect wrestling." They avoided the excesses of life. They might focus on music or philosophy but spent enough time so that their bodies did not become soft."
